Abstract of the Disclosure

A stabilized semiconductor device is described employing a field relief interrupted ring which surrounds an interconnection to an active region of the device. At the area of the interruption, a guard ring or channel interrupter is provided in the semiconductor surface, and the field relief ring is connected to the channel interrupter. This arrests any inversion layers that may form in the surface before or during operation of the device.
