![]() From 1970 to 1986, Don C. Hoefler published Microelectronics News, a weekly newsletter (also known as the industry's tabloid) that followed the constant developments and changes in the semiconductor and solid state industries of Silicon Valley. Hoefler has been credited with naming the northern California area of Santa Clara, Silicon Valley. The Smithsonian's collection of Microelecronics News was graciously donated by Robert J. Schreiner, formerly the president of Synertek, who requests we acknowledge his secretary, Nancy Weaver, for her diligence in preserving as many newsletters as possible over the years.Hoefler's weekly Microelectronics News from August 1975 through March 1986 - most consisting of a 4 page issue and his editorial 2 page Manager's Casebook insert.
